We now have all 3 West side doors on the CCT hung from their runners. A lot of the metal strengthening plates have been attached, as have the handrails. All the precast concrete base sections of the BR hut have been moved (dragged across the snow) to the corner of the paddock where they will be sited. More type 1 aggregate has been moved also ready for the new hut to be re-erected on. The snow is still melting but new flurries are now appearing so who knows what will happen overnight.
May I finish by wishing you all a Happy New Year.

26th December 2009
Well I made it out for Christmas and now we are back. Further snow has come down between my visits but it is now melting. Everything is still very pretty but the roads are poor. If you want to see the station and the Moors covered in a blanket of snow, visit us by train this week.
I hope you all had a Happy Christmas and all the best for the New Year.

20th December 2009
Not much done this weekend except dealing with snow – lots and lots of it. Saturday morning there was 6” to clear off the station, plus the points at each end ready for the train services. After this we managed to get the three doors top-coated plus some works in the cottage (it was warmer inside). Temperatures did not get above -5ยบ C all day. Saturday evening we were meant to go to Goathland for the railways’ Christmas Dinner but we gave up at the Hole of Horcum as the road was too bad. We got back to Lockton where we were kindly put up for the night by Ken and Jennifer as the road to Levisham was impassable. This morning it was shank’s pony back to Levisham for an 8.30 sign on in the signal box. Over night a further 6” of snow had fallen which made walking back ‘interesting’. Both platforms and points also needed cleaning again. I am now stuck here for the night as the car cannot get up the hill. I am covering the first and last part of tomorrows signalling shift to save another person coming down and getting stuck (he will come up on the train). Hopefully I will be able to get the car out during the day.

14th December 2009
Well it has been a delivery week at the station. We now have 20 tonnes of stone in the yard for the paddock base, plywood for the CCT doors, cement and sand for winter work and roofing felt for the shed! The hole we dug in the paddock has now been mostly filled with gravel, separated from the clay with a membrane. We even remembered to provide a duct for the power supply in the hut.
Our CCT doors are now structurally complete and we have begun fitting the steel handles and strengthening plates. A lot more steelwork has been cleaned down and painted ready for installing back on these doors.
We have spent Monday down in Pickering moving the final section of the archives, together with all the heavy cupboards over into the Train of Thought building. A lot of the material is delicate and we were fortunate in completing the job just 15 minutes before the rain arrived.

6th December weekend update
After Repton graced our yard last weekend it was the turn of 76079 this week. It hadn’t failed though, it was just stabled until 45212 had run round its Santa train.
This did involve pushing a wagon up the headshunt and back again!
The excavation for the hut in the paddock has now been completed and what a wet, muddy job it has been. All we need now is 20 tonnes of stone to provide a level base!
The remaining three CCT doors are now complete and await their final coats and adjustments. Once they are in place then we can begin attaching all the steelwork which doubles their weight.
The Christmas lights have appeared again, including our big ‘W’ and very pretty they look in the dark.

29th November report
Well what a wet day – it’s been steady all day since about 1am this morning. The rivers are all up but within their banks, just. The stream at the back of the paddock is overtopping itself but seeing as the paddock is now waterlogged with its own large lakes it will not matter much.
It has not stopped us working elsewhere though. We now have all six CCT doors manufactured although the last three are waiting their planks – these are now in topcoat and will be ready for fixing next weekend. They are currently in our winter warm store now passenger trains have finished.
Talking of trains, there has been delay and disruption to our services today due to a lubrication problem with Repton. At one stage Repton was placed in our siding for a while, to rectify the fault, whilst the two diesels maintained the service.
The S&T have continued running in wires and connecting up the block instruments as part of the HD link work. Some of this work is very easy whilst some wires involve tight spaces underneath the floor in the locking room – not a space for tall persons.
We cleaned out the roadside ditch up the hill on Saturday where it had become blocked. This is a vital task to ensure that the water stays in the ditch rather than all over the road, particularly at this time of the year as both Friday and Saturday evenings were frosty with the temperature below freezing.
The Weighbridge Teas is now closed until 27th December after a fairly busy day here.
We now have a selection of notelets available for sale. There are eight different scenes showing the trains and the seasons at Levisham. They are 60p each or 8 for £4.25. They are on sale at Weighbridge Teas or, all being well via our website (plus post and packing).
The Community Payback team have been down again and continued excavating the paddock for the Black Hut base which will store the marquees and some Special Event materials once it is moved from next to the level crossing, hopefully during Christmas week.

22nd November weekend update
A productive week and weekend was achieved with two further door frames and planking prepared for the CCT – 5 down, 1 to go! We are still having a problem with the end doors closing properly but this is a design flaw on the original van. We may need to make a top horizontal bar to keep the sides apart as the weight of the end doors is too much for the body.
We have been helping in the railway archives as well, moving their stores from the existing room into the new, much larger archive room in the new Train of Thought building. The quality of the finishings in there is excellent with a good working environment. If you have any time then I am sure the Archivist team would welcome some further help.
Wiring work for the HD link for the new signalling system is progressing well with many new wires run in together with others identified ready for the big changeover.
Excavations in the paddock for the new marquee store are ongoing with help from the Community Payback team. The opportunity is also being taken to level other areas when settlement or dips have occurred.

15th Nov 09 Weekend update
Welcome to our first blog. We will try to keep you up to date with our activities at the station week by week.
This weekend the major project has been continuing the door renewal programme on our CCT. We also had to deal with a tree which fell across the line about half a mile north of the station and was found by Repton. The trunk is now keeping the home fires burning whilst the brush made a lovely bonfire tonight. The Weighbridge Teas continues to open at weekends selling hot and cold wares. Don’t forget Ware House Art is still open daily and our hot and cold drink vending machines are available when Weighbridge Teas is closed. The S&T Department are also working here, installing additional kit for the HD Block Signalling link which they hope to commission next spring.

Replacing No 7 signal
No 7 signal on platform 1 is being replaced by a taller bracket signal. This will allow trains to be signalled into the siding towards the north of the station.
We have set up a gallery to show progress on this work. This can be found here

Fogmans Hut
We are building a traditional Fogmans Hut. The hut is being built as part of the commissioning of the siding at the north of the station.
