25th July 2010

This weekend was special as the wedding reception of Paul and Laura was held in the paddock on Saturday, so it was back up with the beer tent on Friday and we set up the stage in the main tent plus tables etc. Saturday morning was a game of two halves. First up both marquees were set up, the bar stacked up ready and flowers and food prepared. Then it was off lifting and packing the siding with the ash dropped last week. We commandeered Stephen from the S&T to assist us as the rest of the gang had disappeared elsewhere! Following this we were off setting up some safety fences for the junior volunteers who are coming on Monday.
The vans have not been neglected either, with the Exhibition van getting its yard side metal cleaned and primed by Horace whilst Ian undercoated the Palvan. Saturday afternoon was party time (for some) whilst the S&T and the two painters continued undeterred. Stephen and Brian were kept busy manning the bar all afternoon and even had time to have a quick drink as well (they were off duty!).
Sunday was dismantling day for both marquees, with the beer tent getting a power wash to try and clean some of the dirt off it. We were again assisted by the S&T with new volunteer Martin getting roped in, literally, to tidy up the marquee. After lunch it was again back cleaning off the vans and applying more paint. Community Payback continued cutting down the reeds and tidying up the area near the station.
