Well it’s been a weekend of two halves – good weather on the Saturday followed by drizzle and rain damp-out on Sunday. Work does still go on. More paint has been applied to the CCT metalwork items and further lettering has been applied to some of the vans. A replacement axle box cover has been fitted to the 3 plank wagon replacing a crude steel plate with which it was delivered – it’s only taken 15 years to do it!
Diesel weekend has been fairly busy on the trains but relatively quiet here. It makes a change to see some different diesels from the usual pair which are regular callers here. As usual TPWS and ERTMS were fitted for the weekend at the station for the modern trains.
To aid loco drivers further, more scrub and bushes have been taken out so the signals can be clearly seen. The timber has been logged and brought back to the station, to keep the home fires going! The brush will be dealt with in a while. Stephen has continued tidying up the workshop coach and has identified some surplus tools which we have donated to ‘Tools for Africa’ and Simon has been tidying up in the Palvan so we can find our way around our wagon spares. The lineside fence, which we removed south of the station to get the lineside ditch re-dug, has finally been reinstated with recovered materials from north of the station. You can hardly tell where the work we undertook was as the lineside has fully greened up.
