26th September 2010

This weekend followed the pattern of last weather wise, which rather hampered some of our planned work. Anyhow, the logs from down the line have been collected and brought back to the station for further use and the new fencing has been started north of the level crossing.
Our workshop coach now sports undercoat on the station side and the yard side has been scraped off and sanded thanks to Alexa and a volunteer from the Netherlands! It now awaits some dry days to allow it to dry out before we can repaint it.
Andy has been working hard on the CCT with the new top beam spliced into place and tied into the new vertical corner post. Elsewhere the van Eric and Kevin have removed rotten screws, cleaned down and primed the E side doorway steelwork doorplates. A new lighting loom has been fitted in the GE van to help us locate stores in the dark (we are used to working in the dark, some say we perform best that way!) and the wiring under the dock has been tidied up onto supports.
Young Alexander is still going from strength to strength, won’t be long now before I get him to work.
