Another two days clearing platforms and freeing up signals.  The road to the station is impassable at present so we had to walk in from Levisham village on the Friday night.  The road to the station is covered in ice so we spent time on Saturday morning putting the stream back in its ditch and chipping off the ice where we could. Yes we have another 12” of snow to deal with.  It doesn’t stop us though although some staff had to walk to the station as they could not get down last night.  Both platforms have been cleared several times during the day, as were the points, to ensure the trains and passengers had a safe journey. The new NER design fence has been extended alongside the Camping Coach and the area levelled and tidied up as we progressed.  17 posts were installed in holes 3’ deep.The CCT has been placed alongside the Up platform by the PW Dept during the week. We now have 20 tonnes of stone in the yard for the paddock base, plywood for the CCT doors, cement and sand for winter work and roofing felt for the shed!  The hole we dug in the paddock has now been mostly filled with gravel, separated from the clay with a membrane.  We even remembered to provide a duct for the power supply in the hut. It hadn’t failed though, it was just stabled until 45212 had run round its Santa train. This did involve pushing a wagon up the headshunt and back again!The excavation for the hut in the paddock has now been completed and what a wet, muddy job it has been.
